Why is it called the Garden Walk?
Well, that’s how it all started. The Sheffield neighborhood was in a period of revival in the 60’s when the Sheffield Neighborhood Association organized the first Garden Walk. ...of senior citizens. The event was so popular that it continued to grow each year, expanding to two days and becoming a regular Chicago summer activity. The street festival we know today started in 1982 on a small scale and has grown to include 123 gardens in 2004. Many neighborhood restaurants and organizations participate in this yearly summer event including our own parish. There are gardening demonstrations and activities for children. Its success has grown over the years and, for many, is the Garden Walk to attend.
