Music from Versailles
On Sunday, September 23, 2001 at 2:00 PM,
Ars Musica Chicago, opens its season
with music created for the "Sun King" Louis XIV.
The rededication of the magnificent St. Vincent de Paul
church includes a concert featuring works by Mouret,
Campra, Brossard, De Lalande and includes the
famous Masterpiece Theater theme. Trumpet virtuoso
David Young, members of the Ars Antiqua string
ensemble, the Ars Music Chamber Chorus, and organist
Robert Beatty assemble for one breathtaking afternoon
of glorious sound.

This concert will offer a tast of the splendor of religious and
secular music from the court of Versailles at the end
of the 17th century. This is the first of four concerts
Ars Musica Chicago will present at St. Vincent de Paul
church during its 2001-02 season.
