Outreach Programs
Overview
The outreach programs, sponsored by the
Outreach Commission
are an important part of St. Vincent's Parish.
Below is a brief summary of the many activities that the Commission sponsors.
These activities provide numerous opportunities for you to volunteer
your time and talents, depending on your schedule.
If you are interested in any of these activities please email Jackie Lorens at
jacqueline.lorens@gmail.com.
Seton Food Pantry
Please see the separate Seton Food Pantry page.
Seton Sandwich Kitchen
Please see the separate Seton Sandwich Kitchen page.
Hunger Walk
This walk is sponsored by the Chicago Food Depository in June of every year,
which benefits many organizations, including St. Vincent's.
Each year St. Vincent's sends a group to participate,
and the Hunger Walk raises several thousand dollars for our
Food Pantry and Sandwich Kitchen.
Visit the Event Photo Archive
to see the spirit of previous years' Hunger Walks.
Assembling Hygiene Kits
Hygiene kits are assembled every 2 to 3 months by volunteers.
The kits are distributed to the homeless who come to our
Seton Sandwich Kitchen,
as well as the poor who come to our
Seton Food Pantry.
Do you travel and stay in hotels?
Then, please save us the soaps, shampoos, conditioners, etc.
Also, if you are ever wondering what else to donate, we could use
razors, small travel-size toothpaste and toothbrushes, and small combs
- we have to buy these items.
With these donations, men and women on the streets can get a "fresh start" to their day.
St. Vincent’s School Supply Drive
Donated school supplies (July - August) are
sent to 4th through 8th graders enrolled in the nonprofit
HighSight/Insight program.
It is so important for children to feel ready for school,
and thanks to you these children will be.
Christmas Gift Program
This is a Parish-wide effort during November and December that involves collecting,
sorting, and distributing gift tags for local children and then
collecting, sorting and wrapping the donated gifts.
The gifts are then sent to
Marillac House
and local Parish families.
Every year over 1000 gifts are distributed, making this one of our largest efforts.
