Welcome to the Outreach Programs page.
There are numerous opportunities for you to volunteer your time and talents
depending on your schedule.
Hunger Walk
is sponsered by the Chicago Food Depository in June of every year,
which benefits many organizations including St. Vincent's.
Every year the Hunger Walk raises several thousand dollars for our
Food Pantry and Sandwich Kitchen.
Visit the Event Photo Archive
to see the spirit of previous years' Hunger Walks.
Assembling Hygiene Kits
These kits will be distributed to the more than 100 homeless who come to our
Seton Sandwich Kitchen every day,
as well as the poor who come to our
Seton Food Pantry;
the rest will be distributed by The Night Ministry Bus.
If you are wondering what these kits might look like,
check out the one that is displayed on the bulletin board at the Webster Avenue Entrance.
Do you travel and stay in hotels?
Then, please save us the soaps, shampoos, conditioners, etc.
Also, if you are ever wondering what else to donate,
we could use razors, small travel-size toothpaste and
toothbrushes, and small combs - we have to buy these items.
With these donations, men and women on the streets can get a “fresh start” to their day.
Hygiene kits are made every 6 - 8 weeks by volunteers.
If you would like to help assemble
the kits in the future, please contact us —
in person, over the phone, or by email.
St. Vincent’s School Supply Drive
Donated school supplies (July - August) are delivered to the St. Philomena Parish.
Due to your generosity, the school children of that parish will be well equipped as
they begin a new school year.
It is so important for children to feel ready for school,
and thanks to you these children will be.
Christmas Gift Program
This is a Parish-wide effort (November - December) that involves collecting,
sorting, and distributing the names of local children and then
collecting and delivering the donated gifts to these same children.
Usually over 1000 gifts are distributed, making this one of our largest efforts.
Living the Vincention Call...
Helping the poor, homeless, and those in need with the support of many Parish programs.
If you're interested in pursuing one or more of these opportunities through
volunteering or just want to learn more about them,
please contact us —
in person, over the phone, or by email.
