Sheffield Garden Walk (2010)
Sheffield Garden Walk Volunteers -- Thank You
Thank you to all of the wonderful and dedicated volunteers who prepared and served food,
beer and lemonade from the St. Vincent’s tents at the Sheffield Garden Walk!
The 42nd Annual Sheffield Garden Walk was a success thanks to your efforts.
Both the Seton Food Pantry and Seton Sandwich Kitchen,
which serve the poor and homeless in our neighborhood,
will benefit greatly from the funds that you worked to earn.
Overview
The Sheffield Garden Walk, sponsored by the Sheffield Neighbors Association (SNA), is celebrating its 42nd Anniversary this year. St. Vincent's, along with other neighborhood organizations and businesses, each hosts several tents staffed by volunteers selling assorted foods and drinks. All revenues from these activities benefit local charities and schools. This event is the biggest fundraiser for St. Vincent's and all funds raised at our tents benefit the Church's Seton Food Pantry and Seton Sandwich Kitchen, which serve the poor and homeless in our neighborhood.
Location & Access
The Festival will be setup on Sheffield Ave. between Belden & Webster (see map).
Travel there by bike or by CTA -- the Red and Brown lines stop at the Fullerton 'L' station.
If you need to drive, parking is available at: St. Vincent visitors and volunteers may find it easier to enter the festival at the main gate, the Webster St. Entrance. An information booth will be located there at which brochures and maps will be available describing the local gardens open for tours. This year the suggested Festival donation will be $7 from noon to 3:00 p.m. and $10 from 3:00 p.m. to closing on both days.
Volunteering
The Special Events Commission is looking for numerous volunteers to help with the event,
working two- and three-hour shifts in one of our six tents.
The St. Vincent tents will be located immediately east of the Church (the green dashes on the map.) Volunteers should sign-in before starting their shifts, and they will then be instructed on the details of each job. This year we are asking volunteers to stay 15 minutes extra, to help with the transition to the next shift of volunteers. After their shifts, volunteers can enjoy the food, fun and entertainment of the festival!
