ID Required

Did you know. . .

  • 4.5 million Americans would die each year without life-saving blood transfusions.
  • 9 out of 10 of us will require blood at some point during our lives, yet fewer than 3% of eligible donors in Chicago regularly donate. That’s way lower than the national average of 5%!
  • You can safely donate one pint of blood every eight weeks (56 days), or six times a year.
  • Just one blood donation can help save three lives! (That’s EIGHTEEN lives per year if you donate every eight weeks!!)
  • Every day, more than 1,500 donor volunteers are needed just to meet patient demand in the LifeSource service area.
  • You can donate blood if you are:
    • Minimum 110 pounds.
    • At least 17 years old. There is no upper age limit!
    • In good health (no cold or flu symptoms). Most medications will not keep you from donating. If you are deferred for iron, it is usually temporary.
See www.lifesource.org for more interesting facts!

Adult Confirmation (Spring 2008)
St. Vincent’s parishioners have two options for receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation this spring.

  • One option begins on April 6th, with weekly preparation sessions in the Parish Center on Sunday evenings and the celebration of the sacrament on Sunday, May 11th, at the 9:30 p.m. Student Night Mass.
  • The second option will begin on May 12th, with weekly preparation sessions held at Holy Name Cathedral downtown on Monday nights. Those sessions will prepare participants to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation at the cathedral on Tuesday, June 24th, at 7:00 p.m.
  • Please email MaryMcCain with questions or to register.

    Doughnut Socials (Spring-Summer 2008)
Second Sunday of each Month, following the 10:00 a.m. Mass
    In the Parish Center
Upcoming dates: May 11th, June 8th, July 13th, August 10th

These after-Mass socials allow new and current parishioners to meet, and talk to the Church staff about various parish activities. So come eat some doughnuts (fattening), drink some coffee (stimulating), learn about Parish activities (enlightening) and meet other parishioners and staff (engaging).

    Catholic Chicago
Chicago History Museum, 1601 N. Clark
    March 8, 2008 through January 4, 2009

The first in a series of exhibitions to explore the ways in which religious communities have shaped the city, Catholic Chicago explores the influence of Catholicism on the city’s ever-changing urban landscape. The exhibition highlights the area’s earliest Catholics; Chicago’s parochial school system; the church’s art and architecture; the city’s network of parishes and religious orders; Catholic activism; and the evolving nature of religion in the city.

The exhibit and self-guided audio tour are free with museum admission of $14 for adults and $12 for seniors and students. Children 12 and younger enter free. For updates and more information, visit www.chicagohistory.org or call 312-642-4600.

    2008 Archdiocesan Annual Catholic Appeal
The Lord is my light… Psalm 27:1 Many of our parishioners either have or soon will receive a mailing from Cardinal George. He will ask that you make a pledge to the 2008 Annual Catholic Appeal. The Appeal not only funds the operations of the Archdiocese, it funds services that are of help to our parish, for example, our SPRED Program. Your financial support is important. The success of the Appeal depends upon the gifts given by each of us to support our Archdiocese. Each of our gifts enables our parishioners to reach far beyond our parish boundaries. They bring the light of Christ to many who are served through education, ministry and services provided by the Archdiocese of Chicago. Please answer the Cardinal’s request and make a generous pledge.
